On the 15th August 2011, the Ambassador of Lesotho in
Germany, H.E. Dr. Makase Nyaphisi together with First
Secretary; Keeena Malefane Mosheshe and the Commercial
Attaché, Yvette Wrigley paid a visit to the 2011-2012
German-Lesotho Volunteers, undertaking a two week
preparatory training exercise at Brandenburg, Berlin Germany
before departing for Lesotho.
Under the Weltwärts-worldwide’
programme the volunteers will be in Lesotho for one year.
H.E. Dr. Makase Nyaphisi expressed his sincere thanks to the
14 volunteers for choosing to live and work in Lesotho for
one year by presenting the volunteers with books depicting a
short history of Lesotho, written by the Morija Museum. The
volunteers also received tourism information brochures,
Lesotho-German friendship pins and mini Mokorotlo’s in
preparation for their Lesotho stay. As a token of their
appreciation of the visit the young volunteers, displayed
their Sesotho skills already learnt by reciting Sesotho
proverbs and their English translation.
These
young German volunteers who have just completed their
matriculation will be based in various German funded
projects in Maseru, Mafeteng and Berea districts offering
Computer Sciences, Arts and Music at kindergartens,
orphanages and youth centers. This is the second year that
the volunteers are participating in the Weltwärts programme
in Lesotho. The ‘Weltwärts Programme (Worldwide Programme)
is an initiative of the German Development Corporation (DED)
together with the German International Cooperation (GIZ) The
Embassy of the Kingdom of Lesotho in Germany wishes the
volunteers much success, happiness and fulfilling learning
experience as well as heartwarming discovery in our
beautiful Kingdom in the Sky.
